Late this coming April, Lita Cabellut, a Spanish artist of gypsy descent, will be charged with opening the Galería Kai- Dikhas, the first Gypsy art gallery in the world located in Moritzplatz, right in the heart of Berlin.
For the occasion, Cabellut will display a series of paintings on the famous singer Camarón de la Isla and will screen a vi- deo art project that she produced and directed. Lita Cabellut was just awarded the “National 8th of April Gypsy Culture Prize” in the category of Painting and the Fine Arts. This important prize is granted every year by the Institute of Gypsy Culture, whose trustees include other institutions, the Ministry of Culture and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. The Institute is also sponsored by the French Embassy in Madrid. •
