The Carmen Thyssen Museum of Málaga is the first Spanish painting museum de- voted wholly to 19th century paintings. It has a catalogue of 230 works, most of them Spanish paintings from the 19th century, with a particular focus on Andalusian landscapes and artists.

“La Buenaventura” by Julio Romero de Torres, “Santa Marina” by Francisco de Zurbarán and “Corrida de Toros en Eibar” by Ignacio Zuloaga are just some of the emblematic pieces in the collection. The new museum of Málaga will occupy 7,147 square metres, more than 5,100 metres of which have been set aside for exhibitions, with a total outlay of almost 30 million euros. With this new cultural facility, Málaga is now poised at the vanguard of the national and international cultural scene.
